Another rare book in the suite library
Unfortunately this book was missing its dust jacket, had a damaged binding, and even had torn pages, but this book typically sells for $100s today. Observations is a collection of photographs by Richard Avedon published in 1959, featuring comments by Truman Capote. What a team! The photos on each page were very compelling and it is sad to think this rare book will probably be destroyed soon if the hotel is demolished. The book was Avedon's first in a long series of influential works and contains portraits of many famous people of the twentieth century, including Pablo Picasso, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and Mae West.
