Unusual elevator control panel
As explained in the last photo, there were no 1st through 10th floors because the first digit represented building 1, and the second digit represented the levels of guest rooms, so ground, mezzanine, and 6 floors of guest rooms. But also this elevator has a "door open" button but no "door close" button. Granted, one thing I hate about elevators is that close door buttons almost never work in normal operation, but how is a firefighter supposed to use this elevator without a door close button? Also, this elevator features a "return" button. I have no idea what this button might do. There is already a button for the ground floor. I wondered if perhaps it was an indicator lamp to tell you if the elevator was moving on its own (returning) to the home floor if no floor was commanded. It is an old Dover cab and control panel.
