Old diesel prime mover and drive bullwheel
In the technical terminology of elevated passenger ropeways (chairlifts), the motor which provides drive force, in this case a small diesel engine, is called the prime mover. The large pulley that it drives is called the drive bullwheel (the pulley at the top is called the return bullwheel). A modern chairlift would typically be powered by an electric motor, and a small diesel motor would provide auxiliary power, but here, the diesel appears to have been the prime mover.
