Futile attempt to prevent water damage
Some buckets at the end of the hall were set under areas where the roof was leaking, apparently quite badly. It did not seem to me like there was any legitimate reason to save this building as it seemed to be beyond repair, as many rooms had ceiling failures, especially on the second floor. However, it's possible this was done during the last days of the hotel's operations when people were actually still inhabiting it. Scary to think this building was probably energized while it was completely water logged.
