Scratchiti on iron graffiti
This scratchiti is B.S., that's for sure. This iron sculpture was attached to a 19th century iron smelter in Tahawus, NY, but as far as I can tell, served no legitimate purpose in identifying the smelter or the operating company behind the smelter. As this shut down in the early 20th century, my guess is this is a form of more-permanent graffiti left by some iron worker just trying to leave their mark on the place they worked.
