Back to those mysterious green boxes from before... Note the electrical connectors. Those switches are all momentary push buttons, and those two caps cover some kind of four-pronged connectors. The middle wingnut is a ground connection. The markings read:
"CAP RETAINER" (the cap from the electrical connectors, presumably)
"CAUTION - DO NOT CONNECT A.C. & D.C. POWER CABLES AT THE SAME TIME"
"STOP -- BEFORE CONNECTING POWER CABLES CHECK POLARITY AT BATTERY END OF THE CABLE"
"RED IS POSITIVE"
