The fountain of doom
If you didn't know the history of this place, you'd ask, why the hell would any architect install a giant planter right in the middle of this flea market? Of course, back when the mall was the primary retail hub for Rockland county, this was a working fountain. Around the early 2000s, it must have broken down, and with the beginning of the declining rental revenues, mall management decided instead to full the fountain with derpy-looking planters and pavers. For a brief period of time, they allowed an outside landscaping contractor to occupy this space, providing them advertising for their brand in exchange. Eventually, no one was willing to volunteer to maintain the space, leading to the even more derpy, inconsistent appearance seen here.
