Maybe they're not all motivational after all
Posted most conspicuously is a red-on-yellow sign that reads, "Mandatory employee dishonesty policy: if you steal you will be prosecuted! Report employee dishonesty, call Silent Witness." Below that are manager-specific motivational posters that read:
* "If you didn't teach every employee you met this week, something new-- (sic) then you didn't do your job."
* "Did you know that stores with large sales increases typically are stores with low shrinkages? Reason? Stores with sales increases are typically well managed overall."
* "Managers create store environments. Is your store an exciting place to work?"
This type of "bullet point" motivation reminds me of 1950s ephemeral propaganda films, or perhaps more recently, the satirical re-creation of the elements of those films in movies like Super Troopers.
