Community room payphone bank scars
Hard to believe there was ever a time when it made business sense to install four payphones in a long corridor off the beaten path inside the mall. Situated just outside the equally hidden-away and rarely used community room, these payphones steadily were removed. If I recall correctly, the three on the right were all removed at the same time, and the one on the left remained for a while, but that too eventually was torn out. The payphone industry, like the Nanuet Mall, fell victim to changing times and shifts in markets.
