Contrary to popular belief, mechanical ice resurfacers are not called "Zambonis" in the same way that photocopiers are not necessarily called "Xerox machines". Zamboni is merely the most popular brand of automatic ice resurfacers. For the super cheap, there is always the man powered Zamboni, which allows rink maintenance personnel to manually smooth out the ice.
