Empty indoor pool stairs and deep end
Here you can kind of tell that this deep end was unusually deep, perhaps perceived as a safety feature at the time. Of course, while deeper deep ends mean less underwater collisions with the floor of the pool, it also means that when someone sinks to the bottom, it's more of a challenge for lifeguards to reach them. Pool floaties lay useless at the bottom of the pool, waiting to one day be lifted up again by the rising pool waters.
