Moss carpet
Directly under a beam that was collapsing due to water damage was this moist carpet. It was unclear whether the water or the carpet was the food source to the moss. I would guess the water brings in sediment, minerals, and other organic compounds, and the moss uses the carpet for root structure. But I wonder if the moss is actually consuming the carpet for sustenance, because that would be way cool.
