Old subway light fixture

A fluorescent tube lamp lights the way down the stairs to the Montrose Ave subway station now, but an older incandescent light fixture sits idle below. Presumably this was actually some kind of back-lit informational sign, not an actual light fixture, but nevertheless the original light bulbs are still inside.
